Since 2008, the Arena Authority has provided administrative and contractual oversight for the management and operation of Excite Ballpark Home of the San Jose Giants. The iconic stadium was constructed in 1942 as a Federal Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. The stadium cost $90,000 to build and had an original seating capacity of 2,900. Today, the stadium has been enhanced to offer a variety of fan amenities.
Playing in the historic California League, the Giants have won seven league championships, including capturing the title in 2021. The stadium also features San Jose State University Spartans baseball games as well as regional high school baseball tournaments.
The Arena Authority, the San Jose Giants, and the City of San Jose work jointly in the development of both annual and long-term stadium capital planning and implementation. The Arena Authority has also supported the Giants with their community outreach programs.
