Drama School Recommendation

I enthusiastically recommend ____________ for your School of Drama. I've taught drama and directed plays at this high school for 26 years and I can count the students of her caliber on one hand.

While comfortable in the spotlight, ____________ does not seek it to the exclusion of other academic and professional growth. She's a superior actor yet has expressed interest in aspects of theater ranging from technical design and directing to playwriting and dramatic criticism. She has voraciously learned everything I know about the theater and even eclipsed me in some regards, especially in the area of set design. When I said it was impossible to construct a rotating stage floor given our limited budget and skill set, she found a way to make it happen. As a sophomore, she was the youngest student in memory to have been entrusted with the role of stage manager for the Spring Musical.

With all this being said, I gained the best insight into ____________'s character in a time of "failure." During the first semester of her junior year, unbeknownst to me, ____________ threw herself into the fall play, "Cheaper By the Dozen," to the exclusion of her other classes. She ended up failing math and science. This was a wake-up call to ____________, who diligently enrolled in summer school and came away from the experience with a newfound respect for balancing all of the commitments and responsibilities in her life.

If accepted to your drama school, ____________ will bring her special brand of energy and curiosity. You won't regret bringing her into the fold.
